Known Issues

General Operation

·         If you are using eInstruction® applications together, such as: Response, Workspace™, and/or CPS with ExamView v.7.50, you will need to upgrade all of these applications to the latest released version in order for Device Manager to communicate properly among them.

·         With Windows XP, users will see an error message with the Microsoft wisptise.exe application when a DualBoard™ or Mobi™ is connected via USB. Microsoft has addressed this issue and an update is available for Windows XP SP2 systems. Please see the following knowledgebase articles for more information.

ExamView

1.     When distributing a test via local area network the Assignment Review report will display the Correct Answer as “Dynamic Question” when “Calculate dynamic algorithm for each student” has been enabled.

2.     When upgrading ExamView, if a previous version was not installed to the default installation directory, two instances of ExamView may co-exist on the system.

3.     ExamView Test Generator version 6.2 and earlier displays the error “Unrecognized image file format” when attempting to insert a TIFF image from the Question Editor's Insert > Picture menu. To utilize a TIFF image, the user may copy the image from a third-party graphics application (such as Windows Paint) and paste the image in the Question Editor.

4.     The TIFF image format has been removed from the supported image formats in ExamView v.7.50. To utilize a TIFF image, the user may copy the image from a third-party graphics application (such as Windows Paint) and paste the image in the Question Editor.

Device Manager

·         The Softkeys on the Mobi Learner may not work properly if the device is connected while the software is being newly installed or upgraded. Remove the Mobi Learner from Device Manager, and rediscover the device for resolution.

·         Softkeys can be programmed to perform Interwrite functions or to launch applications. They cannot be programmed to launch files in the application associated with the file.

·         When you use the button on the side of the Mobi Pen (sometimes referred to as the right or top button) to perform a Ctrl-Click, depress and hold the button for a second or two before releasing it. Do not press rapidly more than once as the system may enter a state in which it seems that no button presses were processed, either from the Pen or mouse. The cursor will move, but no button presses/mouse clicks are processed. To mitigate, hold the Pen close to the whiteboard or tablet and press the upper button on the Pen an additional one or two times. The system will return to normal

·         The Show correct answer on clicker option does not work with PRS RF and Cricket devices when the correct answer is alpha (A, B, or C, etc.). Use a numeric correct answer (1, 2, or 3, etc.) as a workaround in a mixed class environment.

·         When connecting a USB device to a Windows system for the first time, Windows may need to install drivers for the new device. On some systems, Device Manager will not detect the device until the user selects "Discover Devices" in Device Manager, or Device Manager is restarted.

·         A duplicate USB device will appear in Device Manager each time a supported USB device is physically moved to a different USB port. The USB port address is used by Device Manager to uniquely identify and store user preferences for a device. When the USB device is physically attached, only the device with the matching USB address will be shown as connected in Device Manager, all other duplicated devices will be shown as disconnected.

·         When using the virtual keyboard on the Mobi View™ with a Mac OS 10.4 machine, Unicode characters will not function: ≈√¬∆∑≠≥≤₤żˇ«»€ÁŔÂÄĆÇÉČĘËÍÎĎŃÓŇÔÖŐŚßÚŮŰÜźáŕâäćçéčęëíîďńóňôöőśßúůűü˙ This issue was observed with eInstruction applications using the default system keyboard (Apple Keyboard - English). Other applications and system keyboards may not experience the same issue.

·         When using the virtual keyboard on the Mobi View with Mac OS 10.5 and 10.6, the following Unicode characters do not function: áŕâäéčęëíîďńóňôöőúůűü˙ŔÄÉČĘËŃÖŐŮŰÜźThis issue was observed with eInstruction applications using the default system keyboard (Apple Keyboard - English). Other applications and system keyboards may not give users the same issue.

·         On Mac OS 10.6, eInstruction USB devices will not function with 64-bit Kernel and Extensions enabled. Please contact your System Administrator or IT Staff in order to switch to the 32-bit Kernel.
